{Fresh and Beautiful} Minneapolis, MN Maternity Photographer

“A first child is your own best foot forward, and how you do cheer those little feet as they strike out. You examine every turn of flesh for precocity, and crow it to the world. But the last one: the baby who trails her scent like a flag of surrender through your life when there will be no more coming after--oh, that' s love by a different name.”
― Barbara Kingsolver, The Poisonwood Bible

Congratulations to dear friends on impending welcome of their lovely lady. I am sure she will be as sweet, smart and beautiful as her wonderful mom and family.

Working with children is a gift that started with a psychology degree and opportunity to work with kids as a counselor and photographer some
psychology degrees online
or have a degree in
early childhood education
or anything to appreciate the mind of a
child. You just get to love them.

{Amazing Grace} Minneapolis, MN Nokomis Studio

how sweet the sound....
especially with three children...
amazing grace...
no one could have it or handle better...
certainly...not me...
grace, patience, love, etc...
i have that...
but two is enough...
wasn't that a name of a show?

i digress...i love this family...can't wait to meet the new babe which they will name after me...since i have a pretty gender neutral name....
and if she was really my friend she would do it..:) Kidding.
can u tell where we met?

{Calling} Prior Lake, MN Child Photographer

"The thing I remember best about successful people I've met all through the years is their obvious delight in what they're doing and it seems to have very little to do with worldly success. They just love what they're doing, and they love it in front of others."
— Fred Rogers

I met this family even before I worked with the mother, who is a great teacher, and as calm, patient and beautiful as her daughter. Dad is pretty great, laid back and wonderful too. I hope you enjoy these shots of such a sweet girl growing so magically.

It is always exciting and a great honor to be invited back to a family and record another journey in the life of a family...to see the changes, from the new toys, words, teeth, love, hugs, tears...I could go on...so that means I should stop:)

{a few} Minneapolis, MN Family Photographer

Sharing a few of my favorites from a session on Saturday. I wish I had time to blog more. I have photographed this family for 3 years and was greeted at the door with a big hug from the oldest little lady. I say it a million times but I love to witness and record the growth and changes of families as they move through life. Enjoy!

{Kia & Her Humans} Minneapolis, MN Family Photographer

I have been meaning to share this session for some time. It was the work out of my life keeping up with cutie Kia who at 12 (or 13) years still has the energy of a puppy. And of course her owners are some of the nicest people I know:)
Lovely family to work and run with...Enjoy!

{Conner} Minneapolis, MN Children Photographer

"There are no ordinary moments."
— Dan Millman

After a summer photography break I had the pleasure of photographing this family over the weekend. I am short of words today but the session was inspiring, beautiful and just a delight. It had been a year since I had seen Conner and his family and he is growing into an incredible boy. I truly enjoy when clients return and I am able to capture another period in their lives.
It perpetually amazes me how time unfolds so simply and beautifully. Always as it should be.

You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley
You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we walk in the fields of gold

{Sisterhood of the Traveling Sort} Farmington, MN Children Photographer

"Your life is what you see in front of you.

— Amy Tan {The Joy Luck Club}

Following these two sisters around to photograph their story took me back to mine. I have a sister. We are just us and have been close over the years, sharing the special bond and affection two sisters share as girls, friends, teenagers, girlfriends/wives and women.

Speaking to other girlfriends, I appreciate immensely that as women we learn and support each other in a unique way that speaks of the bonds of sisterhood that extends many times beyond shared genetics.

But even more so, as one part of a sister duo, there is rich story that is hard to put into words. Always a gentle grasp around your wrist, holding and supporting through life. For better or worse. Always.

These girls as unique individuals and sisters displayed energy, beauty and the special connection that warms my heart for them, their wonderful family and selfishly, for myself.

Thank you our time for inviting me into your home and sharing your special sisterhood, a brief glimpse for me, but a lifelong journey and connection for you both.
