{Fresh and Exciting Hope} Minneaolis, MN Child Photographer

"If A is a success in life, then A equals x plus y plus z. Work is x; y is play; and z is keeping your mouth shut"
— Albert Einstein

Yup. This is what we say to this one. A mix of heart, soul and mind.
He is a graduate, at the start, of a life long journey...
of Education, Compassion, Experience...
WOW...
Now I will wipe the tears and snot off my keyboard as he is my baby..
starting off...

{Formula} Minneapolis, MN Fine Art Photography

"I do not accept any absolute formulas for living.
No preconceived code can see ahead to everything that can happen in a man's life.
As we live, we grow and our beliefs change.
They must change.
So I think we should live with this constant discovery.
We should be open to this adventure in heightened awareness of living.
We should stake our whole existence on our willingness to explore and experience. "

{Calling} Prior Lake, MN Child Photographer

"The thing I remember best about successful people I've met all through the years is their obvious delight in what they're doing and it seems to have very little to do with worldly success. They just love what they're doing, and they love it in front of others."
— Fred Rogers

I met this family even before I worked with the mother, who is a great teacher, and as calm, patient and beautiful as her daughter. Dad is pretty great, laid back and wonderful too. I hope you enjoy these shots of such a sweet girl growing so magically.

It is always exciting and a great honor to be invited back to a family and record another journey in the life of a family...to see the changes, from the new toys, words, teeth, love, hugs, tears...I could go on...so that means I should stop:)

{Lockdown} Minneapolis, MN Fine Art Nature Photography

"Beauty, the world seemed to say. And as if to prove it (scientifically) wherever he looked at the houses, at the railings, at the antelopes stretching over the palings, beauty sprang instantly. To watch a leaf quivering in the rush of air was an exquisite joy. Up in the sky swallows swooping, swerving, flinging themselves in and out, round and round, yet always with perfect control as if elastics held them; and the flies rising and falling; and the sun spotting now this leaf, now that, in mockery, dazzling it with soft gold in pure good temper; and now again some chime (it might be a motor horn) tinkling divinely on the grass stalks—all of this, calm and reasonable as it was, made out of ordinary things as it was, was the truth now; beauty, that was the truth now. Beauty was everywhere."
— Virginia Woolf (Mrs. Dalloway)

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bow lines.
Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover.”

{Lessons. Lived & Learning} Twin Cities Lifestyle Photographer

"Live a balanced life - learn some and think some and draw some and paint some and sing and dance and play and work everyday some."
— Robert Fulghum

Spring is here and it has been just beautiful in every way. I've been lucky to be quite busy personally and professionally and have found my blog to be slightly neglected.
Sessions to edit, previews to post, kids to kiss, calls to make...
Feeling blessed and loved.
With that being said, I share with you few of my favorite things....

{blossoms & tulips}

{pure delightful sweetness complimented by long days of beautiful light and rest}

{smart, beautiful and creative little girls who take after their mom}

{bear hugs from friends strong, comfy and the giggles and joy that ensue}
{there is so much more, but for now, that's all she wrote folks. lots of previews and updating to come}

{While in Dreams...Awake} Twin Cities Fine Art Photographer

... Have you been half asleep? And have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name.
... Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors?
The voice might be one and the same
I've heard it too many times to ignore it
It's something that I'm s'posed to be...
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers, and me.

In the sky, there is no distinction of east and west; people create distinctions out of their own minds and then believe them to be true.”

{Dec 2nd} Decemember Photo Project

What wondrous life is this I lead! Ripe apples drop about my head; The luscious clusters of the vine Upon my mouth do crush their wine; The nectarine, and curious peach, Into my hands themselves do reach; Stumbling on melons, as I pass, Ensnared with flowers, I fall on grass.

-Andrew Marvell

For the month of December I am taking part in the December Photo Project found here. For each day in December I will take a photograph and post to my blog. A fun challenge to reflect on the month, get creative and challenge myself to grow as a photographer. Feel free to check it out. All are welcome.

{unconditional} Twin Cities Family Photographer

A dog has no use for fancy cars, big homes, or designer clothes. A water log stick will do just fine. A dog doesn't care if your rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give him your heart and he'll give you his. How many people can you say that about? How many people can make you feel rare and pure and special? How many people can make you feel extraordinary?
-Marley and Me

The closer I get to the holidays the more I feel like a character out of "It's a wonderful life." This season is a time to reflect on the year, ourselves, what is important, what has passed and what is yet to come. And truly, what better time to be a photographer and to be alive. The holidays make us stop and believe, love and take time. Yes we should do it all year but life is life and we all get busy and it gets kicked, most of the time without knowing, to the bottom of our list. So I digress, another beautiful family session with one old time friend and collegue, mixed with a beautiful spunky daughter added with exceptionally beautiful and real wife and in-laws finished off with a adorable and energetic dog. Yes. Life is great. How many people make you feel pure, special and extaordinary. I am lucky to say many. I am thankful to say my life is overfilled with blessings. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Klopp for a visit to photograph your life party. It was a pure pleasure to reunite, watch how your strong and incredible your daughter has grown, meet new (and very talented family) and to share in Thanksgiving. Happy Holidays!
