{Dad's Arms} Prior Lake, MN Family Photographer

I think there is something about winter that draws me to pictures like this. It's cold and you want to snuggled and be warm with the people you love. This is from the same session as below. This little lady is snuggled warm, safe in dad's arms. Pretty nice place to be.

I'd been given this glimpse of the sky.

"Don't think about what you've left behind" The alchemist said to the boy as they began to ride across the sands of the desert. "If what one finds is made of pure matter, it will never spoil. And one can always come back. If what you had found was only a moment of light, like the explosion of a star, you would find nothing on your return."

{Winter, Branches, Happy Places and Mantra's} Minneapolis Photographer/Philosopher

Life literally abounds in comedy if you just look around you.
Mel Brooks

Here are few recent shots. I don't think I can be more obvious about how much I hate winter and snow. When we got our first storm and I heard the comments such as "winter wonderland","isn't this romantic" ....."isn't this first snow just great..." I thought "no. this is horrid and stupid." But then my thoughts brought me back to the Respect Retreat my 7th grade students had last week where opinions were discussed as being neither "good" or "bad" just what people think and to respect this so I reigned myself in being one trying my very best to practice what I preach....with that... I just cannot wait til February to hear opinions on how much the winter wonderland is loved then. Just a thought.

Next up is our little beagle. My winter soul mate and princess to the max. Hates wet and snow as much as me:) A bit of a change after having labs for so long but....It's great!!! We whine together, wimper and get a little round in the middle from too many carbs and naps. It's nice to have a buddy who gets it.

The next few pictures are pieces of a tree...I mean branch...that fell to the ground 5 minutes after my kids came in from playing outside in the "winter wonderland." Horrified could sum up my thoughts and feeling but after that settled I took some pics and turned it into art. Winter does provide beautiful photography opportunities...

Last but not least, this is my happy place. I have a great imagination, don't mind it and this is my happy place where I go when the winter wind is cutting through me like blades. I have said this before but I truly am a 35 year old stuck in a snow birds body. So, until then this, in my opinion, is my "winter wonderland"...My nirvana...As with every year I will make the best of it...go to my happy place, snuggle with my little pup and...hopefully plan a trip to somewhere warm..and pray my kids never utter the works "mom can we play/do figure skating...hockey....skiing....curling...etc" Oye!

{November Rain} Minnesota Photograher

"When they asked me what I wanted to be I said I didn’t know.
"Oh, sure you know," the photographer said.
"She wants," said Jay Cee wittily, "to be everything."

{Passings} Minnesota Fine Art Photography

On every twig and rail and jutting spout,
The icy spears were adding to their length
Against the arrows of the coming sun,
How in the shimmering noon of summer past
Some unrecorded beam slanted across...

{a few} Minneapolis, MN Family Photographer

Sharing a few of my favorites from a session on Saturday. I wish I had time to blog more. I have photographed this family for 3 years and was greeted at the door with a big hug from the oldest little lady. I say it a million times but I love to witness and record the growth and changes of families as they move through life. Enjoy!

{Back to the Darkroom} Minneapolis, MN Child Photography

Cleaning out my Lightroom catalog and found this old scanned in film picture. I love film. From black and white to color it still captures depth, tones and color so different from digital.
I think one of my new years goals will be to spend a month shooting just film.
Yes. That sounds good to me. This is Henry. And I am guessing around 18 months. He is now 4. Bringing my other new years goal to keep up to date editing and printing out my own personal photographs and labeling the dates of my pictures.

I'm watching the green give into gold
As summer becomes October's cold
Gravity begs
For one final kiss
She drops it to him, as she gives in
Traces of light, linger around
As laces of white fall to the ground
