{Lucky Seven} Minneapolis, MN Senimental Mom Post

My blog often teeters on being Hallmarky enough but today she is seven. For the last seven years I have loved, learned, cried, laughed, and grown more than I could have ever imagined that -28 January degree day the doctor put her in my arms. At a tiny 6lbs she was a stranger that I knew only threw small jabs to the ribs and then big kicks to the butt those long 9 months. I remember it like yesterday. I was terrified, ecstatic, tired, full of love, anxious and realized at that moment the magnitude of what happened to me...us... .
A lot of days are still like above.
For both of us.
I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Happy Birthday to my dear lady whose growing into herself so magically....
Slow down for me
Because I didn't and sometimes still don't believe older moms and dads who tell me
It goes too fast...

{Awake, Aware} Savage, MN Baby Photographer

As a photographer I am drawn to eyes. They are a reflection back to me. Even at a few weeks old, crossed eyed and new. Eyes. The gateway to the soul.

What I know for sure

"Our care of the child should be governed, not by the desire to make him or her learn things, but by the endeavor always to keep burning within him or her
the light which is called intelligence."
-Maria Montessori

One of those....

Ok. I admit it. I have become one of those mini van carting your kid around moms {snicker away friends who can point our my soapbox speeches that I would never do this}...but it's fun and she's got a ton of spirit and energy. No one told me how entertaining (and so cute)it is to watch 6 and 7 year old boys and girls start their athletic journey. They all got the basketball "buffalo stance" defense pose going on, can "travel" quite well with the ball {my personal favorite} and are quite disciplined in the transition from not kicking the ball { for all those soccer players out there like my kiddo} to passing and dribbling. It will be great to watch them grow over the season and years.

The people you meet at games have a community and I like that. The MFAC association, which is a part of our hood, is a great fit for our family and has us meet new people. Plus her dad's coach. Which is sweet.

Now whether I bring the 135mm or 85mm lens is the question....and light at this gym...all natural...sweet shots for both of us!

Raising Arizona

"We must admit the vanity of our false distinctions among men and learn to find our own advancement in the search for the advancement of others. We must admit in ourselves that our own children's future cannot be built on the misfortunes of others. We must recognize that this short life can neither be ennobled or enriched by hatred or revenge.

Our lives on this planet are too short and the work to be done too great to let this spirit flourish any longer in our land.
Of course we cannot vanquish it with a program, nor with a resolution.

But we can perhaps remember, if only for a time, that those who live with us are our brothers, that they share with us the same short moment of life; that they seek, as do we, nothing but the chance to live out their lives in purpose and in happiness, winning what satisfaction and fulfillment they can. "
— Robert F. Kennedy

My heart is heavy and prayers deep for the people of Arizona. A state that I love filled with people that I hold deep in my heart. My heart is heavy and tired with a country that is so divided and angry. I have had enough. This week was enough. Yesterday was enough.
