{Happy Halloween}

...And travelers, now, within that valley,
Through the red-litten windows see
Vast forms, that move fantastically
To a discordant melody,
While, like a ghastly rapid river,
Through the pale door
A hideous throng rush out forever
And laugh- but smile no more.
Edgar Allan Poe {The Haunted Palace}

{Call of the Wild} Minneapolis, MN Pet Photography

"There is an ecstasy that marks the summit of life, and beyond which life cannot rise. And such is the paradox of living, this ecstasy comes when one is most alive, and it comes as a complete forgetfulness that one is alive. This ecstasy, this forgetfulness of living, comes to the artist, caught up and out of himself in a sheet of flame; it comes to the soldier, war-mad in a stricken field and refusing quarter; and it came to Buck, leading the pack, sounding the old wolf-cry, straining after the food that was alive and that fled swiftly before him through the moonlight."
— Jack London (The Call of the Wild)

{batman & catwoman} Just my life

"The only real stumbling block is fear of failure. In cooking you've got to have a what-the-hell attitude."
— Julia Child

This is how we spend MEA break at our house folks. Chocolate chip cookie making in PJ's with Halloween cut outs. Lots of fun but the end result looks nothing like the cut out bat, cat and pumpkin. In fact, some ended up as blobs or blended into one gigantic cookie mural. Hence the reason for cut out cookie dough recipe I suppose.... No complaints from the young set...

{Lockdown} Minneapolis, MN Fine Art Nature Photography

"Beauty, the world seemed to say. And as if to prove it (scientifically) wherever he looked at the houses, at the railings, at the antelopes stretching over the palings, beauty sprang instantly. To watch a leaf quivering in the rush of air was an exquisite joy. Up in the sky swallows swooping, swerving, flinging themselves in and out, round and round, yet always with perfect control as if elastics held them; and the flies rising and falling; and the sun spotting now this leaf, now that, in mockery, dazzling it with soft gold in pure good temper; and now again some chime (it might be a motor horn) tinkling divinely on the grass stalks—all of this, calm and reasonable as it was, made out of ordinary things as it was, was the truth now; beauty, that was the truth now. Beauty was everywhere."
— Virginia Woolf (Mrs. Dalloway)

{few announcements}

I have been so excited these past few months with the sessions that I have had the privledge of photographing for such great clients. Along with this time, I started a great new job so the balance of doing both has been fun but challenging. As stated on client contract, your proofs may take up to three weeks for processing. This is the current time frame I am running on. If you have any questions please contact me.

I am completely booked for October and have limited spots for November. I will be taking the entire month of December off to rest, transition and spend the holidays with my family. Most importantly re- familiarize myself with my own children who have had a mom locked away in her office being a crazy editing fool:)

All orders that are needed for the holiday time need to be placed by November 23rd. After this time I cannot guarantee you will receive your product in the time needed.

Beginning in January, I will be taking limited sessions and hope to offer new opportunities and exciting specials.

And as always, have a glorious day!

{Kia & Her Humans} Minneapolis, MN Family Photographer

I have been meaning to share this session for some time. It was the work out of my life keeping up with cutie Kia who at 12 (or 13) years still has the energy of a puppy. And of course her owners are some of the nicest people I know:)
Lovely family to work and run with...Enjoy!

"A few minutes ago every tree was excited, bowing to the roaring storm, waving, swirling, tossing their branches in glorious enthusiasm like worship. But though to the outer ear these trees are now silent, their songs never cease. Every hidden cell is throbbing with music and life, every fiber thrilling like harp strings, while incense is ever flowing from the balsam bells and leaves. No wonder the hills and groves were God's first temples, and the more they are cut down and hewn into cathedrals and churches, the farther off and dimmer seems the Lord himself."

Sharing some sweet shots from over the weekend. I adore photographing children. Their free spirits are wild and beautiful. They are always who they are laughs, smiles, tears...spit up...and all. I also love that I have known all these families for some time. First with out children. Then the first...the second...the third. Very exciting to watch them grow in love and joy with each other. Wonderful people, making for a splendid morning!
