“I like to be the right thing in the wrong place and the wrong thing in the right place. Being the right thing in the wrong place and the wrong thing in the right place is worth it because something interesting always happens.”
― Andy Warhol
I love the city of Pittsburgh. Everything from the art, people, culture, mountains, rivers and sports teams are comfortable and familiar to me. Recently, I have had the chance to visit the City more frequently and view old childhood stomping grounds with fresh adult eyes.
This most recent trip included a visit to Mt. Washington. It had been almost 20 years since I've been to this spot last and I'm afraid the nostalgia clouded the very real fact the Mt. Washington is indeed a Mt. A Mountain with a fantastic view for those brave hearts who are fearless with heights. I wandered close enough to the edge to take in the view and snap some photographs before vertigo and a rapid heartbeat overwhelmed me. The rest of the time was spent wandering the hidden and very quaint neighborhoods that sit inside this part of the city.
As I left, I made a mental note to challenge myself closer guardrail for next time and revisit the incline ride that tracts up and down the mountain continuously throughout the day...It has been 20 years or so since I've done that too and I loved every minute of it. I'm not sure what changed...
I've been told to visit the is spot at nightime where the view is colorfully breathtaking. I can only imagine the sparkling skyline of the City wrapped up in the dark reflections of the converging rivers...I look forward to my next visit...hopefully a bit braver and much sooner than before.
